Club History

Est.2016. Swindon AFC was built by Nicos Manolis, Ricky Wood and Dave Wood. The first season was a tough one and took a while to hit the ground running with results and committed players. The first season for Swindon AFC saw them bottom of the league.

With some new players coming in the summer of 2017, we started to get a squad together who were committed to turning up every week and giving it their all for the club. The 17/18 season was much improved, and we finished mid table after a strong finish.

The 18/19 pre-season was again an improvement from the following the seasons. This was Ben’s first season in charge of the club and with more arrivals and tactics from the gaffer we were starting to shape up as a proper team.

We started the season brilliantly which saw us in the top 2 for most of the season. Unfortunately, we hit a dip in form and ended up with a disappointing end and missing out on promotion.

Pre-Season

This pre-season has been excellent and tough. A lot of hard work in training and we have brought that onto the pitch in our games. We have played some very tough teams that have tested us and took us to our limit which is what we want to face week in week out.

We’ve currently played 8 games, winning 6 with a draw and a defeat amongst those and we have 1 preseason game left before the start of the season.

We’ve been clinical in these games which has helped us massively and allowed us to get into a comfortable position during the game. We’ve scored 30 goals and conceded 9 which we are delighted with.

New Signings

Sam Bradfield

Jake Davis

William Miller

James Hogg

These players have worked extremely hard through pre-season and have fitted right into the team.

We are very excited to see them throughout the season and we are sure they can help us push for promotion which will be our aim this year.

Expectations

After our season last year, we will be looking to rectify our mistakes and aim for the league title. It will be very tough for sure, but we are confident we can finish in the top 2 this year.

We did well in both cups last year, reaching the semi final in the George Thomas Cup so we would be delighted if we could go on a good cup run again.

Long term plans

Our goal is to reach the Swindon District Premier division and to establish ourselves in the division which would be a great achievement as we know there are some quality teams up in the top league.

Predictions for league winners

We want to be the ones who take the title and are winners of the league, but we know this is going to be tough as there are some good teams competing with us.

We expect Priory Vale to be up there as well as Ramsbury, Bassett, Chiseldon & Lower Stratton.

I’m sure there are more but those teams are what come to mind, and we are looking forward to the season ahead and cannot wait to get going!
