21st Mar – Covid – Season completed

Letter from the President

Dear club secretaries,

It is with a heavy heart that I write to confirm that the 2019-2020 season has been deemed as completed by the National FA for all clubs and leagues from National League down to Grassroots.

This therefore means that our season has finished with immediate effect and as per the FA all results and statistics will be treated as null and void.

This does mean that there will be no promotion or relegation, however the league committee will look at the league structure in detail before next year’s divisional format is confirmed at the AGM.

I am obviously disappointed for all those clubs pushing for League titles and promotion and can only offer sympathies to those clubs in this position. Please be assured the decision to complete all football was not a local level decision and has been made at the highest level of the FA, but one our fellow leagues in the County have also taken.

With regards to our Cup Competitions the George Thomas/Don Rogers finalists will share the trophy, but the Evening Advertiser Cup will become null & void, with no winners being awarded.

Free affiliation for existing clubs for next season

Given the fact that the season has finished prematurely and many clubs are suffering financial hardship. I am pleased to announce that for all our member current clubs we are offering free affiliation to the League, as well as free entry to both cup competitions for the 2020/2021 season.

This represents a saving of £50 per club and will hopefully allow clubs to continue and also find the start of next season smoother from a financial perspective.

Of course this is all immaterial at present and by far the most important factor now is that everyone sticks together, adheres to the Government advice and hopefully we can all be back playing football at whichever level sooner rather than later.

Please stay safe and look after each other, Pete Mildenhall
