Division 1 Take On The Premier Division in George Thomas/Don Rogers Cup Final

The Swindon Districts George Thomas/Don Rogers Cup Final takes place this Saturday and kicks off at 11am at Gerrard Buxton Stadium, Royal Wootton as Premier Division side Ramsbury take on Division One side Wroughton Res.

Both sides have had a rocky season having failed to put together consistent run’s in the league and as a result, both sides finished mid-table. With Ramsbury competing in the higher division though, they will be seen as favourites to lift the cup.

Ramsbury have had an un-orthadox route to the final having only completed one game in the cup to get to the final.

They received a “bye” in the first round, scrapped a victory in the quarter final 4-3 against Moredon and then received a “walkover” against Deers Leap in the semi-final.

Wroughton Res have had a much more difficult route seeing off New Town Allstars 4-0 in the opening round. That was followed up by a comprehensive 6-1 victory against North Swindon WMC which gave them a semi-final games against Chiseldon.

They went on to win that game after coming from behind to win 5-3 and secured their place in the final in the first season in the Swindon and District league.

After the success of the Wroughton first team winning the Wilts Senior League, they will be looking to bring even more silverware in to the club this coming Saturday.
