Match Report: Blunsdon 2 -v- 2 Redhouse

Match report from Blunsdon

📅Saturday 7th September 2019
🆚 Blunsdon FC v Redhouse FC
🏆 Swindon & District Prem game
⏱2:30pm Kick off
🏟Sutton Park, Blunsdon

Blunsdon’s hosted last seasons Div 3 Champions Redhouse on Saturday in an entertaining game that saw the sides draw 2 a piece.

A strong start from Redhouse saw them come out the traps firing and were probably they stronger side for the opening 20 minutes faster and stronger across the park but failed to create any real chances on goal.

Blunsdon took the lead a great ball from Eliot Wheatley played in Nick Craft who forced a fine save from the keeper only for Josh Skeates to pounce on the rebound and make it 1-0.

Redhouse levelled before half time as Blunsdon gave the ball away cheaply on the half way line and were punished after some good passing resulted in Will Gage being beaten at his near post. The 2 sides went into the break level.

Blunsdon’s performance improved second half but it was Redhouse who took the next goal and the lead. It was pretty much one way traffic from that point on however with Blunsdon keeping Redhouse on the back foot and camped in their own half but failing to capitalise.

Parity was restored as Jamie Pidgeon played in Lewis Morland who had made a great run from the right then beating and rounding the advancing keeper to slot into an empty net and level the score at 2-2.

Blunsdon used all 3 of their subs yesterday with Kai Anderson, Zach Ockwell and Jamie Pidgeon all making an appearance and helping take control of the second half.

MOTM goes to Lewis Morland who looked comfortable at the back for the majority of the game and showed great composure going forward to score an important goal which helped Blunsdon earn their first point of the season.

Some good spells of play from both teams yesterday and credit to Redhouse who made life very difficult for Blunsdon.

From a Blunsdon perspective we certainly have more to offer moving forward in the league and will feel a little disappointed not to capitalise more after controlling the second half.

We will look forward to next week as we travel to Nalgo.
