Match Report: Ramsbury -v- Marlborough Town Res – Preseason Friendy

Report from Jon Symon of Ramsbury

Ramsbury FC Senior Team defeated a physical Marlborough Town FC Senior Team 5-2 in an entertaining pre-season friendly game.

Although dominating the early play, it was Marlborough who scored first with their first shot on target. However, Ramsbury kept their composure and maintained the pressure to score three well crafted goals by Adam Elmer, Matt Darvell and Zac Symon to deservedly end the first half 3-1.

Ramsbury were unlucky not to be 4-1 up as Adam Elmer had a certain goal ruled off side and veteran goalkeeper Geoff Pratt made a host of fine saves.

Marlborough reduced the deficit in the second half with a sublime long range shot that gave Ramsbury keeper Geoff Pratt no chance. But Ramsbury countered quickly with a rocket of a shot by midfielder Tom Mildenhall after great work by Jack Steen in defence and Dan Price in central midfield.

The second half was dominated by Ramsbury with great performances by Leigh Harris and Dan Offer as marauding wing backs, showing great fitness and turn of speed, Ali Mair as centre forward who supported by Zac and Darvs on the wings and Adam, Pricey and Tom M in midfield was a constant threat.

Pricey went off for Bart Duckett and Lee Martin for Leigh Harris with Bart scoring the final goal; and he and Zac could and should have scored two more as the final scoreline of 5-2 flattered the opposition.

In sum, a very competetive pre-season freindly that was officiated by Sean Eviil the Ramsbury Senior Coach as the booked ref failed to show. Sean did superbly well and he and the team Captain Chris Roberts were very happy with the end result.
