Old Town Slip Puts League Title In Pinehurst Hands

Old Town United missed a penalty in their mid-week game against Marlborough to draw the game 2-2 and that penalty miss could be one of the key moments in this years division one title race.

Before Kick off, Old Town were only 2 points behind leaders Sport 4 Pinehurst with a game in hand so the title race was in their hands. With Pinehurst picking up a home win, and Old Town failing to take maximum points, the favourites for the league title has tipped towards Pinehurst.

Other mid-week results include a 4-2 victory for Lower Stratton against Core Construction. Stratton still have a remote change of picking up the title should they be able to win their remaining games and the teams around them collapse.

New Town All Stars failed to make use of the home advantage as they had to switch pitches and play at Chiseldon shich seemed to un-settle the side as they lost by 3 goals to nil against a confident Strattion Juniors side.

In the Premier division, run away leaders Tawny Owl put in a performance deserving of league champions as they saw off Spitfires 7-2. That win puts them 7 points clear at the top with 2 games in hand over their closest rivals.
