Tawny Owl Flying High At Top Of Table – Week 25 Review

Premier Division

Tawny Owl regain their position at the top of the premier league following their 5-1 mid-week victory against FC Dorcan followed by another 5-1 home win this weekend against Bassett Bulldogs who have now completed all their league games this season.

Spitfires dominated bottom side Spectrum with a 9-0 goalfest with goals coming from Michael Cox(3), Sam Long(3), Stephen Hughes, Kieran Butler & Barry Winslow. This defeat leaves Spectrum with only 1 win and 1 draw all season.

Centurians continued their fine end of season form after winning 3-1 against North Swindon, whilst FC Dorcan lost out in a tightly fought game against Sports Central with Sports getting the only goal of the game.

 

Division One

Sport 4 Pinehurst get back to winning ways at the top of the table with a comprehensive 8-2 victory against Lower Stratton. Stratton failed to keep hold of the ball and were out played in midfield which allowed Jonathan Peachey(3), Ryan Welland(2), Aaron Welland(2) and Brad Stanners to get on the score sheet.

Title chasing Old Town United continue to stay in the hunt for the top spot as they eased past a hard working Marlborough side. Old Town were ruthless in front of goal with Lee Hayward(3), Godfey Chalanga(2) & Aaron Williams all netting for the home side.

There were goals galore in the New Town v Core game which saw Core picking up all 3 points. 11 goals were scored in total with New Town getting 4 but Core hit the net 7 times.

At the bottom end of the table, Chiseldon failed to put space between themselves Swindon AFC after being unable to overcome Haydon Wick.

Chiseldon were missing players again but put up a good fight in the first half creating chance after chance but failed to convert any.

Wick punished them through Aaron James Hewitt who netted twice before half time to give them a solid lead at the break.

Chiseldon continued to put Wick under pressure creating chance after chance and they finally converted on the hour mark through Frankie Hunt. Sadly, Chiseldon were unable to get the equaliser and Wick picked up the 3 points.
