Tawny Owl Lose 2 Goal Lead In Wilts County Cup Final

Tawny Owl faced made it all the way to the Wiltshire County Junior Cup final and lined up against Luxol UK at Meadow Lane.

The weather conditions and pitch were perfect for the big occasion and after the early exchanges with both teams looking to play passing football, this was destined to be a great spectacle and it didn’t fail to deliver.

Tawny were first to break the deadlock with some slick passing in midfield and movement front the front runners created enough space for them to fire home and take the lead on the 18th minute.

This seemed to lift Tawny Owl and they started to play with even more confidence and managed to retain the ball better than Luxol were able to.

With Tawny seeing more of the ball they managed to create a number of chances and they increased their lead after 34 minutes and they looked like they had the game under control.

The Luxol players managed to re-group at half time and whatever sort of team talk they had worked wonders as they came out in the second half full of energy and fight.

With a renewed belief, they started to press Tawny all over the pitch and gave them little time to settle on the ball. With Tawny under pressure, some lack lustre defending resulted in a penalty being awarded to Luxol which was duely dispatched in to the back of the net to bring themselves back in to the game at 2-1.

With both teams working hard in the warm conditions, there was some fantastic football on display from both teams. It was Luxol that managed to find the net though mid-way through the second half though and made it 2-2 which set it up for a fantastic finish.

With both teams creating changes and trying to push for a winner but failing to do so, it looked like extra time was going to be needed. However, with only minutes left on the clock, Luxol shattered Tawny Owl’s dreams by scoring a late winner and claiming the Wilts County Junior Cup title.
