Week 24 – Match Previews – Can Sport 4 Pinehurst Reach The Summit?.

Premier Division

With only two fixtures in the Premier division, there won’t be much movement as far as the league table is concerned.

Sports Central entertain a struggling Spectrum side who have been left firmly behind at the bottom of the division.

Central will be looking to pick up maximum points as they will then leap frog FC Dorcan in to 4th spot. With the top 3 sides seemingly out of sight, it will be a battle between these two sides to see who can finish up best of the rest.

Elsewhere in the top division, 8th placed Swindon Centurians take on 7th placed Swindon SpitfiresCenturians will be looking to close the 4 point gap between the two sides in this 6 pointer as Spitfires have a game in hand over them.

Spitfires are likely to see themselves as slight favourites in this one seeing as Centurians haven’t taken to the field in 4 weeks so are going to be lacking match sharpness.

Division One

With a packed weekend in the first division, it is a chance for teams and point end of the tables to improve their league placings.

The stand out fixtures has Sport 4 Pinehurst, who are currently in second place and only 1 point of the lead with games in hand, lining up against 3rd placed Lower Stratton.

If Stratton are to have any hopes of winning the league, this is a must win game for them as they are trailing their hosts by 4 points having also played a game more.

Pinehurst boast an impressive 8 game winning streak and will fancy themselves to beat a Stratton side that lost last weekend to Wroughton.

At the other end of the table, Chiseldon will be looking to take advantage of Swindon AFC’s free weekend and build upon the win last weekend as they face Core Construction.

In the run up to the end of the season, Chiseldon have to play teams from the bottom end of table so will be looking to end the season on a good run, and with a few key players missing, this will be an interesting test for them.

New Town All Stars host Haydon Wick and with 3 points separating the two teams, this should be a closely fought game whilst another mid-table battle will be played out as Moredon vists Stratton Juniors. Confidence in the Moredon camp is likely to be low as they lost to bottom side Swindon AFC 4-2 in their game last weekend and haven’t picked up a point in their last 10 outings.

Finally, 4th placed Old Town United, who still have league title ambitions, take on Wroughton and even though they are 9 points off the leaders, they have a number of games in hand on most teams in the league so will be looking to take advantage of that as we start the run in to the end of the season.
