SPORT4Pinehurst keep themselves in Division One title contention in the Swindon & District League with a 6-2 win over Chiseldon.
Bill Roberts’ men sit just one point below leaders Lyneham, who they will be hosting on Saturday, but have two games in hand on the table toppers.
And while the Pinehurst chief knows that if his team win all their remaining games they will be crowned champions, the next three fixtures – Lyneham and back-to-back games with third-placed Lower Stratton – will define their season.
“In all honesty, the league is ours to lose,” Roberts said. “If we win all our games, we will have won the title.
“But it is really tight at the top, we have got three big games coming up and if we drop points, we could find ourselves dropping down the table.
“We are a young side, made up of lads from Pinehurst, so to win the division in just our second season would be a fantastic achievement.”
Pinehurst’s, winger Jonathan Peachey Score bagged his third hat-trick in three games, with Ryan and Aaron Welland as well as Brad Stanners also on target. Luke Robinson and Luke Mitchell replied for Chissy, but was sadly not enough for the struggling side.
