Match report by Blunsdon FC
Blunsdon’s 4th pre season friendly of the 2019/20 campaign saw them match up against Cirencester and District side Intel FC. A friendly rivalry has formed between the 2 sides over recent years and it’s always an entertaining game with 2 teams that want and know how to play football. On this occasion Blunsdon just bested Intel to come from behind to secure a 3-2 victory.
A strong first half from Blunsdon saw them take the lead with Nick Crafts effort rebounding of the bar and Josh Skeates reacting faster than anyone else to tap in with the follow up. Jamie Pidgeon was then fouled in the box and Blusndon were awarded a penalty, which unfortunately was pulled agonisingly wide of the post.
Intel then went close themselves with only a fine save from Will Gage preventing them from pulling level, pushing the ball onto the post. Before the break Dave Young also when close when he turned into Paul Gascoigne taking the ball under control looping the ball over the defenders head all in one motion, then hitting the ball on the volley but sadly the shot went inches wide of the far post.
In the second half It was Intel who started the brightest and more quickly finding themselves 2-1 up, a lovely worked second goal that left Blunsdon wondering what had just happened.
The lead however was short lived when a long ball over the top beat the defence for Chester Dolisznyj to round the keeper and tap into and empty net. Intel nearly extend their lead again however when a fine effort cannoned off the post.
Josh Skeates then made up for the penalty miss when he capitalised again from Nick Craft hitting the crossbar to knock the rebound home from close range and score his second goal of the game and Blunsdon’s 3rd, that’s Josh’s 3rd brace in as many games now.
Blusndon made a number of changes during the game witch substitutes Chester Dolisznyj coming on to score and play an important role, Aaron Dowdell worked hard down the right flank and Ian Rosewell making a cameo appearance, but all helping with Blunsdon’s come back.
MOTM this week goes to Kai Anderson, solid performance from the young man, helping cover at centre back you would never of known he was slightly out of position, always seemed to be in the right place at the right time, defended solidly and did the basics very well, also looked comfortable with the ball at his feet brining it out from the back. Well done Kia superb job.
Another great pre season run out for the lads against a side that we respect in Intel. Blunsdon came from behind to win and in truth didn’t play as well as we know they can but still got the result so good signs there.
