Priory Vale is a new addition to the Swindon and district league. Formed in July of 2018 by Nick Salter a resident of North Swindon.
Vale Secretary and player Nick was up until last season a player for Chiseldon FC where he has been for a number of years. Now after much thought, he has decided the time is right to go it alone and create his own team for the 2018/19 season.
July saw Vales first ever pre-season training session only attract eight players. the second session only eight again. Frustrated maybe but in no way deterred Nick stuck with it and now with the help of Manager James Agahbi has 20 players competing for a place in the starting line up.
Vale has had a tough pre-season playing a total of seven games, the majority being against the higher established opposition.
There have however been many positives to take and it is clear to see that the players are beginning to gel. Many have never played together before. There is experience in the squad with the majority being older players, some of which have played at a higher standard. With that experience, Priory Vale is quietly confident going into their first ever season.
Nick has always maintained that ultimately the aim is to create a club that he, the players and the community can be proud of. A club where good friends and good memories can be made.
To establish, climb the leagues and win silverware are naturally the long-term aspirations.
