A very tight and tense game ended in a 3 – 3 draw which saw Haydon Wick come back from 3-1 behind.
Stratton took the lead in the 34 min and maintained their lead going in to half time. Haydon Wick came out for the second half with a higher tempo and get the equaliser from a set piece. A cross in to the crowded Juniors box saw Ricketts climb highest to put in a great header in to the bottom corner leaving the goalkeeper helpless. Stratton picked up the pace themselves and scored a 66th minute header followed up by a scramble which gave them a comfortable 3-1 lead. Haydon Wick refused to lay down and a managed to pull a goal back courtesy of a great run and finish from Flatman. With time ticking down, Haydon Wick still chasing the game, Gratton was brought on to bolster their attacking game. This proved an invaluable substitution as Gratton found space in the box and with his first touch, slotted the ball past the keeper to level the game. |

The opening half saw both sides working hard but neither side really taking hold of the game and this resulted in few chances and the games remained scoreless going in to half time.
Core came out of the second half the stronger of the two sides and opened their account from the Penalty spot. With their tails up, unlike the first half, chances were being created and goals were being scored as Core found the net time and time again. Marlborough did get a two goals back one of which came from a stunning Hill effort from 24 yards for what must surely have been the goal of the game. |
Old Town 10 | Chiseldon 1 |
Aaron Williams x 3 Steven Low x 2 Alex Hammond x 2 Ashley Bragg Steven Nesbitt Lee Hayward |
Nick Salter |
With Chissy picking up their first point of the season, they went in to the game with some confidence. This was sadly short lived as Old Town opened their account early in the game and proceeded to dominate nearly all aspects of the game.
Chissy did manage to take something from the game as Salter timed his run to beat the offside trap and calmly rounded the keeper to tap in to an empty net. |
Swindon AFC 0 |
Lyneham 18 |
Jordan Thompson x 6 Mark Holt x 4 Mike Jones x 3 John Demellweek x 3 Louie Munton |
|
With Lyneham in fine form and pushing for the top slot going in to the Christmas period it was always going to be a tough game for the only pointless team in the league.
Whilst Swindon tried to play football they were over powered by a well drilled and efficient Lyneham side and trailed 6-0 at half time. The second half offered no letup for Swindon AFC as Lyneham dominated the game and proceeded to score some great goals as well as capitalising ruthlessly on Swindon AFC mistakes. |
Wroughton 5 | New Town All Stars 1 |
Jamie Pidgeon x 2 Ben Leonard Mikey Thompson x 2 |
Stephen Jackson |
A young Wroughton side looked comfortable throughout the game as new team Allstars were struggled to keep hold of the ball.
A brace from Pidgeon and Thompson saw Wroughton picking up all 3 points whilst New Town did manage to pick up a consulation goal via a Stephen Jackson effort. |
