Ashton Keynes vs Swindon Supermarine DC – 29/09/2018 – Match Report

Ashton Keynes 6 – 2 Swindon Supermarine Development

We were made to battle hard by a young, energetic and physical Supermarine side. A great game of football on a beautiful afternoon at the Bradstone.

Supermarine opened the scoring through a well whipped in corner, heading in close, with only 7 minutes on the clock.

We puffed and panted and it took us a long time to really get going, however a penalty halfway through the first half won by Stu Robinson was converted with aplomb by Delroy Fallon.

A second penalty was given 10 minutes later and Fallon cooly fired the ball in to take the lead.

A wonderful sweeping attack by Ashton just before half time made it 3-1, Phill Legace spraying a great ball out to Dean Wilson, using his pace he got in behind the Supermarine defense and smashed the ball over the keeper.

Second half we struggled to get a firm foothold on the game, and Supermarine made it 3-2, their striker who had a great game beat the offside trap and slipped the ball under Harry Irving – playing only his second game for Ashton.

We then had to endure some strong pressure before 15 minutes from time Wilson cut the ball back to Phill Legace who fired in our 4th after being moved up to striker.

Legace then scored a great goal 2 minutes later, latching onto a through ball and delicately placing the ball over the keeper into the empty net.

And 4 minutes later a free kick 25 yards out was struck sweetly by Fallon into the top corner – the goal of the game and to complete his hattrick – a very well done to Delroy who was named Man of the Match!

We stay top, but some crucial fixtures coming up in October including the first rounds of the County and Domestic Cups.

4 wins in a row is an excellent achievement for a large squad that are still finding their rhythm.
