Confidence & Caution In The Swindon Advertiser Cup Final

This weekends Swindon Advertiser Cup Final kicks off at 3pm at Gerrard Buxton Stadium, Royal Wootton Bassett and sees Tawny Owl looking to add to their perfect league season in the Premier Division with victory in the cup.

Tawny Owl will start the game as firm favourites over their opposition, Old Town United, who finished 2nd in Division One.

Old Town Utd manager Chris Wood has confidence that his side are more than capable of challenging, and beating, Tawny’s vastly experienced side containing the likes of Jack Allen, Dave Slattery & Kenny Hawkins.

Eyeing up the opposition, Old Towns Woods commented “They’re beatable, any team is beatable”.

We’ve had games with them in the past and we’ve come close. I’d say we are seriously stronger this season.”

The pressure is on them more than us, we’ve got nothing to lose.” he said.

In their route to the final, Old Town Utd have seen off Swindon Spitfires 3-1, followed by a comprehensive 3-0 victory over FC Dorcan in the Quarter Final both whom play in the Premier division along side Tawny Owl.

Although firm favourites, Tawny Owl boss Anthony Pascarella has warned his side against complacency ahead of the game.

We are expecting a tough game,” said Pascarella.

We still have to perform, it depends on the day and we will see how it goes.

AJ Sahota, one of Tawny’s most experienced players, re-itterated his managers thoughts saying “Old Town are a good side”.

They have got some good players but we are not the kind of side that look at other teams to be honest. It about ourselves and what we do on the day.”.

Tickets for the “125 Year Anniversary” celebration, which includes the Swindon Advertiser Cup Final, are only £4 for Adults, £1 for Senior Citizens and Children under £12…Children under 3 are free.
