Janice Kuczynski

The Swindon Sunday Football League renamed their 2022-3 Knock Out cup in Janice’s memory. Janice loved all sports, particularly darts which she was a very accomplished player, and loved her involvement in local football. Janice never suffered fools, and liked things done correctly, and in a proper manner. She first become involved in local football as a kit sponsor at Pinehurst Community Centre in 1993/ 1995, She became involved in the setting up of and also becoming secretary of the Princess Hotel football team in 1995, again she sponsored the team with kits.

In 1999 the team moved to the County Ground pub, playing on the County Ground extension pitch, During this time they were quite successful winning league titles, and the Advertiser Cup, and folded in 2005. In the 2005 close season Janice, myself, and my brother moved to Aldbourne to try and revive its flagging fortunes, with lots of hard the club become debt free within 2 years thanks to Janice, however a small handful of villagers didn’t like the idea of outsiders from Swindon running the club, things came to a head after 3 seasons and it was decided to fold the club. Janice’s big regret was that the club had to fold at the end of the 2007/2008.

Janice then moved to Purton to help Alan Eastwood with running the club for a while before calling it a day. Janice also served on the Swindon and District Management committee, she then moved to the Swindon Sunday Football League, where she became Hon Cups Secretary, organising numerous cup finals for the league until her passing. Janice served over 20 years on the Swindon Sunday league and she will be sorely missed by everyone that knew her as she was a valued member of the committee.

Janice was also involved with the Wilts F.A from 2011- until her untimely passing in July 2022.
