Match Report: Blunsdon -v- Stratton United FC – Preseason Friendly

Match report from Blunsdon FC

Blunsdon’s 8th pre season game of the 2019/20 season saw them emerge 6-5 winners against Cirencester and District side Stratton United.

A poor first half showing saw Blunsdon fall behind to 3 goals, despite having chances and maybe even more possession of the ball, individual errors and poor defending made Blunsdon look silly going into the half time break 3-0 down.

Thankfully a second half masterclass saw Jamie Pidgeon score a brilliant hat-trick, 2 brilliant efforts and 1 from the penalty spot after Kai Anderson has been brought down in the box, Jamie could of had a 4th but unfortunately hit the bar with a long range curling effort.

Kane Wheatley, Harry Hillerby and Nick Craft also all got on the score sheet to give Blunsdon the 6 goals, Kane converted well from the penalty spot after some lovely footwork from Harry Hillerby saw him brought down inside the box, Harry’s goal saw him rise like a salmon to head home from a corner and Nick punished Stratton capitalising on a mistake at the back to steal the ball and slot home.

Blunsdon did give away 2 cheap goals second half 1 from a free kick and the other a clumsy challenge from Ian Rosewell to give away a penalty, but the lads did enough second half to secure the win.

Blusndon gave game time to veterans John L’estrange and manger Ian Rosewell as they both made substitute appearances, a growing injury list and holidays left Blunsdon a bit light on the ground for personnel yesterday but superb effort and performance from all the lads who were there especially second half, some great strength in squad depth this season.

MOTM goes to Alex Rosewell who worked tirelessly up and down the right flank all game but also defending superbly throughout, well done Alex top performance.
