Swindon & District Referee Support Group is part of the Swindon & District Football League in Wiltshire.

The Swindon & District Referee Support Group is committed to providing additional support both on and off the field to all referees in Wiltshire through our Referee Support Officers, which is supervised by our Referee Appointments Officer, Mark Paris-Haines.

We are convinced that providing increased support at the grassroots level will inspire more individuals to pursue and remain enthusiastic about refereeing.

Our program is designed to assist referees who feel they require additional support in their careers. As an organization, we conduct regular meetings on “Discord” to facilitate open and honest discussions among refereeing colleagues.

The S&DCFL Referee Support Group is committed to supporting and developing referees to help them achieve their full potential. By appointing a Referee Support Officer, we aim to acknowledge the existing strengths and skills of referees while identifying key learning needs at various stages of their refereeing careers. Each report provides tailored recommendations for improvement actions that referees may wish to consider.

We accomplish this through one-to-one mentoring, acknowledging the importance of focusing on the individual’s needs as a support group.

This support encompasses not only the technical performance of referees but also considers any impact that officiating may have on them. We are fortunate to have immediate access to the Wiltshire CFA Referee Mental Health Champion and Sports Chaplain in Wiltshire, which provides assistance for both on-field and off-field on issues that may arise.

Our Referee Support Officers are a group of experienced and well-respected volunteers dedicated to supporting colleagues in the early stages of their refereeing careers. All mentors are qualified referees with at least five years of active refereeing experience.
