Last June, the Swindon and District Community Football League were delighted to announce the winners of the Junior and Senior Referee Awards for the 23/24 season. The announcement was accompanied by the presentation of a cheque to the League in memory of Chris Paris-Haines and to fund the Respect Memorial Shields. The engraved Junior Referee Award was recently presented to Jake Giles, the 23/24 Junior Referee recipient. Swindon & District Community Football League applaud Jake for his commitment to grassroots football and positive development through the S&DCFL Referee Support Group. We look forward to see his future successes.

S&DCFL Referee Support Group
Developed by S&DCFL, the Referee Support Group aims to establish a structured network program designed to enhance referee confidence and experience. The programme also provides clear development pathways. Overseen by Referee Appointment Officer Mark Paris-Haines, the support group includes experienced and respected volunteers, with a common goal to support colleagues in the early stages of their refereeing careers.
The support provided by the Referee Support Group goes beyond the technical aspects of the game to include mental health and wellbeing support for match officials. To help referees fulfil their potential, the support group includes one-to-one mentoring which recognises their strengths and skills, in addition to identifying key learning and improvement needs at each stage of their refereeing journey.
For more information on the S&DCFL Referee Support Group, please contact Mark Paris-Haines. From everyone at S&DCFL thank you to 23/24 Junior Referee champion Jake Giles, and Senior Referee Award champion Jeremy Moyse for their recognised efforts to provide quality football in our grassroots football community.
