SDFL Cup Referee Profiles

referee

With the Up A Ladder Cup and Don Rogers Plate Finals taking place this weekend, we have a look at the individuals who will take charge in each game.

Up A Ladder Cup Referee

Referee Sam WalkerI am Sam Walker and I am 23 years old. I have been a qualified referee for 8 years and this my second full season in the Swindon and District Football League and have enjoyed every moment officiating on it so far.

I have also been officiating on the Wiltshire Under 18 floodlight league this season too. My greatest achievement as a referee so far is being given “Senior Referee Of The Year” last season which was a great honour that I wasn’t expecting at all.

As we come towards the end of the season I am looking to get promoted from Level 7-6 and I am keen to see how far I can get up the levels.

In my spare time I enjoy watching premier league games. I am an Arsenal fan as you can all imagine they have been very painful to watch over the recent years and continue to be unpredictable.

As well as being a qualified referee I also play and manage a Sunday team that plays in the Swindon Sunday League, Covingham United.

Don Rogers Plate Referee

Referee Samuel PinchesI am Saumel Pinches and I’ve been refereeing for over four years since I turned 14.

My first few season were spent learning and developing my skillset refereeing youth games in the North Wiltshire Youth leagues.

I soon started to referee more competitive games in the Wiltshire U18 Floodlight League which was a great experience. I further developed my skillset and understanding of the game at this level before starting to refereeing open age football.

I now referee both open age football whilst also gaining more and more experience continuing to officiate on the NWYFL.

As a referee, my biggest achievements are two ‘Young Referee of the Year‘ awards and this season being an assistant on a Wiltshire Youth FA Cup Final.

I support Reading FC and go to games when I can, despite our form. I hope to continue officiating for the foreseeable future and will aim for promotions in the seasons to come.
