Spring Cup Gets In To Full Swing

With the Up A Ladder Cup up and running, it is going to be a big weekend of fixtures to see who can secure a spot in the knockout stages and who will need a win in the final round of games to progress.

Up A Ladder Cup Round Up

Group A kicks off this weekend as division 1 winners Chiseldon, line up against a Nationwide side who have proven a tough opponent for Chiseldon.

The league fixture saw Chiseldon win by a single goal in a 2-1 away win, whilst the reverse fixture saw the teams battle it out in a 3-3 draw. Both sides will fancy their chances of progressing to the next round and a win tomorrow will be expected by both managers.

The game in Group B, will see Premier division Redhouse needing all 3 points against Down Ampney after a narrow 2-1 defeat to Priory Vale last weekend. Down Ampney won’t be a pushover, as they can still take the runner up spot in Division 1 if they win their final league game of the season.

With the disappointing news that AFC Swindon have had to fold, Ashton Keynes & Highworth Town Dev are already in to the hat for the next round from Group C. The winner of their clash this weekend will see them seeded in the next round, giving them a perceived better route to the final.

Group D has also been the victim of a teams withdrawing after Sportz Central have given notice that they folding. That will leave Premier Division champions Blunsdon with a  free pass in to the knockout stages as group winners after Hatherop were unable to fulfil their fixture last weekend.

Hatherop will also be in the hat for the next round of the draw as group runners up.

Shield & Dagger finished runners up in Division 2 so will fancy their chances against their division 1 opponents.

In Group F, KO Plastering romped to a 4-0 victory last weekend against Siddington in their first group game, They will be on a high after that result and will fancy their chances of topping the group as they line up against Ramsbury tomorrow.

Ramsbury lost both their league fixtures against KO during their league campaign, so will be hoping for a change in fortunes in the cup.

Moredon FCGroup G will see Division 1 side Spectrum host Blunsdon Dev from Division 2. Spectrum can take top spot if they pick up all 3 points following on from their 3-1 win against Moredon last weekend.

Bassett Bulldogs FCDivision 1 team strugglers Lower Stratton, have started their cup challenge in Group H in a positive manner with a 3-1 win against Cricklade Town Res from Division 2 last weekend.
