Old Town United extended their lead at the top of Division One to 5 points thanks to a 6 – 0 victory over mid-tabled Haydon Wick.
United were looking to continue their excellent run of form and they delivered thanks to 2 goals a piece from Aaron Williams, Alex Hammond & Lee Hayward. This win takes them a step closer to the league title as they start to pull away from the chasing pack whilst having two games in hand as well.
After another commanding performance, United manager, Chris Wood is already looking at the stats as to how they can win the league.
After the win, Wood commented “It was a great performance from the lads this week and another clean sheet.”
“We’re now at the halfway point in the league and it looks like it’s now down to three teams, us, lower Stratton and sport 4 pinehurst but looking at the stats we have scored more goals than other team in the league with 63 goal’s and we have also conceded the least goals too 17 in total.”
“We now have a week off which gives us the opportunity to rest and plan for our next game against AFC Swindon where we will be looking for another win before the quarter final cup match against Dorcan FC”.
