Welfare & Safeguarding in Open Age Football

Welfare & Safeguarding in Grassroots Football

Player welfare and safeguarding in grassroots football is something Swindon & District Community Football League take serious. We are aware that many 16 and 17-year-old are looking to play and participate in Open Aged Football. This is a fantastic opportunity for these young players and participants to progress and be challenged both technically and physically. However, officials, managers and players must also recognise that these young players are still minors.

Together, we have a duty to ensure that the game is a safe, positive and enjoyable experience for the children, young people and adults who regularly play, watch, coach, referee and volunteer. Therefor, if you ever have any concerns regarding safeguarding or the welfare of anyone under the age of 18, REPORT IT. Ignoring is not an option.

If in doubt please email sdfl.welfare@outlook.com or call Keith White (League Safeguarding Officer) on 07564 660818 for advice or to discuss further.
