Will Tawny Make it a Perfect Season – Week 27 Previews

Premier Division

Tawny Owl go in to their last game of the season against Swindon Centurians with a 100% win record in the league and will be pushing to ensure that the 125th season of the Swindon & District league will go down as a perfect one.

The result will not affect Tawny‘s league standing as champions and they must be firm favourites, although Centurians won’t just roll over as a win for them will mean they bypass Ramsbury and move into 7th place in the league.

4th placed Sportz Central take on 5th placed Swindon Spitfires and a win for Central will lift them in to 3rd place above Bulldogs who have already finished their season.

Division One

Current league leaders Sport 4 Pinehurst, have all but won the league as only a loss in their last game against Haydon Wick, coupled with 2 wins from 2 games from Old Town United can prevent them from winning the league title.

Even if that does occur, Pinehurst and Old Town will be level on points at the top of the table but Pinehurst are 22 goals better off than Old Town.

The last tie of the weekend sees 2nd place Old Town United visit Wroughton Reserves and anything more than a miracle should Old Town United finishing the league in 2nd spot. With both of these teams lining up in the Cup Finals next weekend during the 125th Celebrations, it will be interesting to see how these sides approach the game.

A top and bottom match up sees 3rd placed Lyneham and basement side Swindon AFC fighting it out in their final game of the season. Lynham will need a positive result to ensure they finish in the top 3 as 4th placed Lower Stratton are only a point behind them as they face a Wroughton side that haven’t won in 6 of their last outings.

Swindon AFC can still move off the bottom spot if they can pull off a shock win, they could leap frog Chiseldon.

Chiseldon have put in a few solid performances in recent weeks and they will be hoping they can make convert those performances in to points and pick up a win in their final game of the season.
