A message on behalf of Harry Russell:
“I would like to firstly introduce myself. My name is Harry Russell, I am the Male & Disability
Football Development Officer for Wiltshire County Football Association.
With the upcoming renewal of the county and national strategies for grassroots football, I thought it
would be the best time to create a space where representatives of leagues and clubs can
come together to discuss the future of men’s football in the county.
The Wiltshire Men’s Football Leagues Forum is being introduced to help solidify and grow
Men’s football in the county. I would like to invite representatives of all leagues and member
clubs to attend the forum at Green Lane Playing Fields, Devizes, SN10 5EP. The date is yet
to be set and will be communicated shortly.
I believe that it would be beneficial for a forum to be created for all men’s leagues in the
county to get together to discuss all aspects of men’s football in Wiltshire.
The main aim would be to share instances of best practice; help identify where support
needs to be given to league; where there are areas for growth and expansion; where there
should be praise given to leagues performing well; and ultimately to create a sense of
community and collaboration between the leagues in Wiltshire.
Wiltshire currently has 7 Men’s leagues with 191 teams. Ranging from U18 development
squads in the Wiltshire Football League Floodlit Division to the Wiltshire Walking Football
League with teams playing around the county.
Our current Men’s football leagues are:
- Swindon & District Football League
- Trowbridge & District Football League
- Wiltshire Football League
- Wiltshire Walking Football League
- Swindon Sunday Football League
- Chippenham & Bath Football League
- Salisbury & District Football League
