The Road To The Final – Chiseldon FC

Division 1 champions, Chiseldon FC, have been in fine form throughout this competition and started strongly by also winning their  group.

A 3-0 victory over Nationwide, followed by a 7-3 dismantling of Premier Division side Nalgo, meant confidence has been high in the Chiseldon camp from the start.

Their Quarter final fixture saw them visit Premier Division strugglers Highworth Town Development, who had a tough season having only managed to pick up 3 points in the league campaign.

Chiseldon didn’t have it all their own way and weren’t quite able to put the game to bed as they might have liked but did end up walking away 3-1 winners.

The semi-final draw set them up with a fascinating clash against Division 1‘s third placed team, Down Ampney.

Ampney had won once and lost once against Chiseldon in the league but it was Ampney that had the better goal difference over the two games leading 6 goals to 2, suggesting a close encounter was to be had.

Both sides would have fancied their chances of making it through to the final but it was Chiseldon who were better on the day, romping home to a 5-0 victory.

The Road To The Final – Hatherop FC

Hatherop BadgeHatherop finished in 6th place in the Premier Division and had it not been for a very slow start to the season, could have been pushing for a top 3 spot in the league.

Hatherop’s group competition was a bit of a non-starter as both Blunsdon and Hatherop finished first and second, due to fixtures being unfulfilled for a number of reasons.

The quarter final was the first game in the competition for Hatherop and they found themselves drawn against Ashton Keynes, who finished one place above them in the league.

Ashton Keynes had the home advantage and may have been favourites, but it was Hatherop who were the better side and went on to win 3-0 and progress to the semi-final.

The semi-final draw had Hatherop facing undefeated, Premier Division Champions, Blunsdon.

After the season Blunsdon had, any team would have been daunted facing them in the cup, and they were considered favourites for the competition by most.

Our twitter poll had 79% of the voters thinking Blunsdon would make it to the final so this was going to be a huge challenge for Hatherop.

Hatherop weren’t listening to any polls and put in a stunning performance to beat the favourites 3-1 on their own turf. A stunning result and one which will now surely make Hatherop favourites to lift the cup.
