AFC seemed to be everyone’s pick to win the league this year, so we knew it would be a tough task. A few players missing from last weekends win gave an opportunity for others to step in and make their mark.

We started the game well with good possession of the ball, controlled the tempo of the game and this continued throughout.

AFC were disciplined and always a threat on the break with their quick wingers and accurate build up play. Both teams had shouts for a penalty both of which were rejected by the ref and any other clear cut opportunities were few and far between for both sides.

Priory did come closest to scoring through skipper Luigi, having a bullet header, from a corner, saved well by the AFC keeper.

In the Priory goal, Squires was also called in to action occasionally and in one instance, pulled off a fantastic full stretch diving save to tip a shot around the post and out for a corner.

Despite having the majority of possession, we couldn’t find that winning goal to give us the 3 points we were looking for at the start of the game.

2 points lost rather than one gained.

Next week we travel to Swindon Centurions where we will be looking to return to winning ways.
